The White Hores

Soonsil, which was originally founded in Pyongyang, desired to inherit the frontier spirit of the ancient Kokuryo people, who conquered Manchuria and dashed through the fields on horseback, wielding their mighty power. The white horse also symbolized the school'' yearning to reach God's kingdom in heaven: "And I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him; and he went out conquering, and to conquer." (Revelation to John 6:2) The rip in the middle of the White Horse statue on campus symbolizes the 16 years of Soongsil's shutdown by the Japanese colonial government.

The Tulip Tree

The tulip tree grows tall and is known for its beautiful bell-shaped flowers, which are never worm-eaten and stay clean. This cleanliness symbolizes Soongsil's integrity maintained throughout its 100-year history. This tree can be easily spotted on Soongsil campus, but it is rare in other places.
