THE GRADUATE SCHOOL(REGULAR PROGRAMS) HISTORY
The Graduate School at Soongsil University was established in January, 1972 in order to provide in-depth, specialized education and research opportunities and to promote leadership and creativity.

In January, 1975, the Graduate School was authorized by the Ministry of Education to admit a fixed number of students in each field;in June, 1975, Soongsil University, Choongang University, and Inha University formed a cooperative association to set up a credit-transfer system among the three universities`graduate schools.

Soongsil`s Graduate School is actively engaged in student exchange programs with a number of prestigious universities in other countries through exchange program agreements.

REQUIREMENTS
Coursework and Enrollment Period:

1. In the Master`s degree program, the coursework must be completed in 2years (4 semesters), and the enrollment period cannot exceed 3 years.
2. In the Ph. D. program, the coursework must be completed in 3years (6semesters), and the enrollment period cannot exceed 5 years.

* Number of School Weeks:
The number of school weeks must be at least 16 weeks per semester.

* Curriculum:
The curriculum for each program is listed separately.

* Credit Requirement per Semester:
No student in graduate programs can take more than 12 credit hours per semester.

Coursework Requirement:

1.In the Master`s degree program, a candidate must earn at least 24 credit hours in total. In case the candidate has both major and minor fields of study, he/she can earn at least 18 credit hours in the major field and at least 6 credit hours in the minor field. Some candidates may take extra courses if it is deemd necessary by their advisors.

2. Each candidate in the Ph. D. degree program must earn at least 60 credit hours (including those earned in the Master`s degree program), and at least 9 of the 60 hours must be earned in his/her minor field.

Enrollment Requirement:

A candidate in the Master`s degree program must complete his/her coursework requirement in 3 to 6 semesters. A candidate in the Ph. D. degree program must complete his/her coursework in 4 to 10 semesters.

Minimum Grade for Passing:

The passing grade for a course is a C and up; a candidate must receive the GPA of 3.0(B) or above in order to be awarded a degree.
